UCLan at Astrofest 2008
The University of Central Lancashire attended
European Astrofest 2008,
promoting our Distance Learning Courses. Over 110 visitors tried our
Astroquiz and spoke to staff about our research and courses. Our special
theme this year was solar physics and our free 3-D postcards of the Sun went
like hot cakes.

The winners of the Astroquiz 2008 were as follows:
- Jerry Stone, Hertfordshire.
- Martin Filsak, West Midlands.
- Joe, Greater London (Junior).
- Andrew, Bedfordshire (Junior) - second year running!
Friday's senior winner took home a copy of Dark Side of the
Universe: Dark Matter, Dark Energy, and the Fate of the Universe by Iain
Nicholson, while Saturday's senior winner won
Bang! The Complete History of the Universe by Brian May, Sir Patrick
Moore, and Chris Lintott.
Junior prizewinners received a UCLan graduate
teddy bear.
