UCLan at Astrofest 2009

UCLan astronomy staff and students will be attending Astrofest 2009 at Kensington Town Hall on the 5th and 6th February (Stands 42 and 43).
Perseid meteor showers
11th August 2008
From the 23rd July to the 20th August, the Perseid meteor showers will be visible. The maximum will occur on the night of Monday the 11th August, running into the morning of Tuesday the 12th August. This could be a great show, as tiny fragments of a comet fall through the atmosphere, leaving bright trails as they burn up.
UCLan at South West Astronomy Fair 9th August - update

Professor Don Kurtz (an international authority on Asteroseismology)attended the South West Astronomy Fair on the 9th August 2008. Despite the foggy weather, the event was well attended and Don spoke to many visitors interested in his research or our distance learning courses.
